What is a repeat prescription?

Repeat prescriptions refers to medication which your doctor has agreed can be requested on a repeat basis without you needing to see or speak to a doctor each time.

Repeat Dispensing

If you, or someone you care for, use the same medicines regularly, you may be able to benefit from repeat dispensing from your pharmacist. This means you won't have to visit the surgery every time you need more medicines. This service is known as Electronic Repeat Dispensing (ERD).

Disposal of Medicines

Please dispose of out-of-date medicines carefully. They can be returned to any pharmacy for disposal. Do not bring them to the surgery for disposal or place them in a standard domestic waste.

Ensure that your prescription drugs are stored at home out of the reach of children.

Over The Counter (OTC) medicines

In line with NHS national policy, our practice will not generally give you a prescription for over-the-counter medicines (OTC) for a range of minor health concerns, even if you qualify for free prescriptions. Instead, OTC medicines are available to buy in local pharmacies and supermarkets.

Please see our OTC page for further information.
