Changes to the NHS App

We at Paxton Green Group Practice have just been informed that there will be changes to the NHS App on 3rd February 2025. Everyone with an internet connection/mobile data will still be able to use it, however patients with older phones may need to change the way they use the NHS App.

If your phone is newer, it is unlikely you will experience any changes to the way you use the NHS App.

From the 3rd February 2025 onwards patients whose phones that are on these phone operating systems will no longer be able to use the App version of the NHS App and will need to use the web browser version instead, (instructions on how to do this are included further on in this news page):

  • iOS 12 *Will no longer work*
  • Android 6 *Will no longer work*
  • Android 7 *Will no longer work*

NHS England have stated that in order to use the App version of the NHS App the following phone operating systems are needed:

  • Android version 8 and above, on devices with a front-facing camera *Working*
  • Apple iOS version 15 and above *Working*

This means a patient could have been using the app version of the NHS app for a very long time but suddenly will not be able to next week.

If you haven’t tried to upgrade the operating system phone for a long time and not sure what operating system is try the following

How you check and update you operating system

Hopefully after carrying out the appropriate software update to your phone, you will be on Apple iOS 15 or above or Android version 8 and above.

If you have carried out these update steps and cannot open the NHS App after 3rd February 2025 then you can still access the NHS app using the web browser version.
